We’ve just released the a0.87 build on Steam.
Changelist:
– Added the tutorial section of the Epiphany ship (can access via main menu)
– Added 4 new types of clothing
– Added several new buildings in Adventure mode
– Added new landscape features to Adventure mode
– Added the option to extend height to 512m in Adventure mode
– Tweaked town formation in Adventure mode
Of course, as always, we’ll try to fix and tweak any minor bugs in the coming days.
A0.86 Released

We've just released the a0.86 build of Planet Explorers on Steam. For this build, we've included the World Editor. The current World Editor is fairly rudimentary, but you can see the direction we’re going with it. The current game won’t be able read the output maps from the editor until a0.9 though. We’ll try to release a tutorial/documentation as soon as possible. For now, the World Editor is Windows only. Also included in this release are story bug fixes for a0.85 and the block LOD.
Looking forward, we have a0.9 coming up as well as Unity 5.0. We’re not sure if a0.9 will be using Unity 5.0 or not, it depends on when that comes out. We do know that there should be some significant improvements to lighting, physics, and optimization once we make the switch.
A0.85 Released on Steam

We’ve just released the a0.85 build on Steam. It’s mostly a Story mode build with some Adventure mode updates. All old saves are probably not going to work with the current build, so here’s a save package for you to download:

We weren’t able to get the 64 bit version working with the current build due to the difference in behavior tree libraries, but it is already working with a0.9, so everyone will just need to wait a bit longer for that. The player customization and ingame NPC randomization are still being tweaked...so don't worry too much yet if you happen to meet a really strange character...
A0.84 Changelist

Originally, we were going straight for a0.85, but some of the assets needed for that build are taking too long, so we're releasing a0.84 as an inbetween build. The changelist:
Colony in multiplayer (no NPCs or farm yet)
Monorail in multiplayer (Coop and Build only)
New objects in the Creation Editor (bed, lights, door)
Time of day is tweaked for Adventure Mode
Ramps added to towns
In multiplayer, NPC followers will no longer be auto released once they die, can be revived
Added currency to Adventure mode, meat is no longer the currency there
Added simple cut scenes for several story parts in Story mode
A0.85 is looking to be late October. It'll mainly be a pretty big Story Mode build.
A0.831 Changelist and UI change preview

A0.831 has been released on Steam. Here are the changes for a0.831:
Fixed factory using multiple resources to make just one item
Fixed several Adventure map generation bugs
Made turrets weightless so that they won’t fall through blocks anymore (temp measure)
Added more shade weed to Adventure mode
Increased wooden bow’s attack power
Tweaked wet in Adventure so that there are less chances of a middle-of-the-ocean spawn
Added proxy server option for people who cannot or don’t know how to port forward (we still recommend port forwarding for the best speed, proxy server can be quite slow depending on location)
Players no longer get hurt from above ground area attacks far underground
Going forward for a0.85, we are now pretty far into implementing colony elements for multiplayer. A0.85 will also open up the swamp and mountain biomes with additions to the story.
Most of the team are working on elements for a0.9, including a complete redo of the UI. Our old UI wasn’t too bad from the player point of view other than that it was hard to read at higher resolutions and a bit cluttered. But from a code point of view, it was a mess. So a streamlining of its logic was needed. At the same time, we also wanted to make the UI graphics a bit more futuristic with shader effects and such. So, we went about designing a system that took elements from Windows, Photoshop, Civilization, and what we had before. Below is a WIP preview:

A0.81 Changelist

We just uploaded our a0.81 build to Steam. This one is mostly a bug fixing build. We'll wait until Monday to see if there are any more major bugs, if there aren't, we'll release a few save files to help people who want to progress directly from a0.75's storyline. If there are, we'll release a a0.82.
The one major change in this build is that in Story mode, the player will no longer start with all minerals available for scan in the mineral scanner, you'll need to get the app updates from other colonists (start with Chen). If you're playing on a 0.8 save, just go buy the upgrades from Chen, Lao, and Hitomi.
